Easingwold
11/02/2006 The band enjoyed an excellent crowd again in Easingwold. The venue as in previous years was the Galtrees Centre, which was again full to capacity. The band opened with the rousing march Arnham, which was followed in more traditional style with the nowadays little played overture Zampa. The overture went down well as it is full of cracking good tunes. The Soloists for the evening performed a varied number of pieces. Kevin Moxon (Sop) played Trumpet Voluntary, Ann Jackson (Horn) played On My Own and Mike Pratt (Euph) played the Mozart Rondo. One of the highlights was the full cornet section standing and playing Ave Maria, the sound certainly rattled around the sports hall in Easingwold. The grand finisher was the coronation march Crown Imperial, this sealed off a wonderful night with prompt, flair and patriotism. The band is booked for February 2007, so watch out and make sure you buy your tickets early. |
